Anonymous asked: your in LA alot. what do you like doing there? i'm scared to drive out there cuz of traffic! it's like you have to plan a whole day out of it! =(

:) LA is a wonderful city with so many pockets of treasures. The whole LA area is pretty large, so I would recommend listing off the different cities within the county you’d like to visit first, then start researching things to do there. :)

I grew up in the South Bay area, so when I want to be by the water, I’ll visit there (Palos Verdes, Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, Venice Beach, Long Beach). There’s great little mom and pop places in these small beach cities. I think I visit PV and LB the most. PV has this gorgeous dog beach that I love visiting and a favorite trail I run. LB has this delicious Lebanese restaurant I crave all the time, the LB Aquarium (fave!), and places to kayak or stand-up paddle.

I love the hustle and bustle of city life, so I love being in downtown LA. I love the architecture, different from other high-rised cities where all you’ll see are structured metal and glass buildings. The bars there are great, and my absolute favorites are the rooftop bars!! :)) I had my birthday at the beginning of the year at one. ^.^ DTLA also has awesome museums to visit. I hold memberships at both LACMA and MOCA. Another favorite thing to do is to visit the random parks to just enjoy myself and the outdoors. I posted a photo of myself at Angels Knoll park, and went ice skating in winter at Pershing Square.

Hollywood is great because of three things: musicals at the Pantages Theater, all things Disney at the El Capitan Theater, and hikes in the Hollywood hills- the best leading toward the Griffith Observatory. The Obersavatory was a favorite to visit as a child, and still holds fond memories for me there. :)

Shopping in Beverly Hills & Melrose is a must, along with all the good eats in the aformentioned cities.

Last on my favorites list, are the hikes!! If you travel to the outskirts of the county (Pasdena/Arcadia), they are home to the best hikes!!! My favorites are hikes that lead to waterfalls. I’m on my way to one this weekend!!

So, Anon, you are concerned with the traffic. Traffic is everywhere!! You just need to gauge the day and time of day you’re going to drive out. Avoid rush hour times (3-6pm, 8-10pm) and it won’t be too bad. I always make an effort to plan daily adventures, so I dont mind it. But the best time to visit for a few hours would be first thing.
